C'est un dimanche pluvieux encore! - It's a rainy Sunday again!

I intend to spend the day in the sewing room!
I haven't made much more progress with the "Card trick" quilt because we had visitors. Our daughter Kirsty and her OH, Daniel, were over from England. The weather was good sometimes and we managed a few outings! It was lovely to see them and to spend time together.

We went for a stroll around Ver. The paths were very wet underfoot and there were plenty of deep puddles. It was more like a route march! However, the scenery was lovely!

Les huîtres - les plus frais! The freshest oysters.

Diners eat oysters and drink a glass of wine, bought as a take away from a local restaurant, while sitting on the wall - then they recycle the shells on the beach!

Comment rangez-vous votre fils? How do you store your threads?

Karen from "Sew Many Ways" is having a "Linky Party" this week about thread storage. There are some really good ideas and some amazing collections of thread! My collection is very humble in comparison but this is how I store my threads.

I've this little rack on the wall - a present from my son and daughter-in-law. I love it.
Here I keep  the threads I use for FMQ. Most of them are from "Coats and Clark" but I've just ordered some Aurifil to try. I was inspired by Béa's lovely FMQ here and she used Aurifil...

I have other threads in plastic "shoe" boxes. From left to right - the first box contains cotton thread for piecing. The others contain polyester/cotton threads for dressmaking - organised by colour.

I keep spools and matching bobbins (those currently in use) together using a cocktail stick. A little hair-tie holds the end of the thread.

I also have a collection of DMC thread in all the available colours for my cross stitch.

C'est tout!
That's all, Folks!

You can see that this block is missing something! That square was there - honestly it was! It's disappeared thanks to one mischievous little kitten!

I've searched without success! I've asked Harvey to give it back to me but unfortunately he has forgotten where he has hidden it ...

I should buy a treadle sewing machine ...

Yesterday, we had our Sunday afternoon well organised. We'd decided the menu for dinner. I was planning to do some patchwork and we were going to watch the tennis from Wimbledon. Andy Murray versus Roger Federer - perhaps there would be a British Champion for the first time since 1936?  We settled down for a pleasant afternoon ... no such luck!

The first set was very exciting - one set to Murray! Off to a good start! Federer won the second set and then ...

... Paff ...
... Wham ...

The lights went out, my sewing machine stopped working and the TV screen went blank! A power cut!

Several hours later the current was restored - just in time to see the last two points of the match. Federer was victorious and I only had four blocks ...

Un peu décevant - doublement!
Rather disappointing - on both counts!

The Kanzashi Flower Maker from Clover is available in two sizes - small and large. The small makes a flower 2 inches in diameter and the large 3 inches in diameter. It is quick and easy to use.

Place the tool on the right side of the fabric. Then fold the tool in half enclosing the fabric.

Coupez les bords du tissu.
Trim the edges of the fabric.

Make a knot at the end of a 27 inch length of thread.

Insert the needle from the back to the front at hole 1...

Insert the needle again at hole 2. Then continue to follow the numbers finishing with hole 12.

Enlevez l'outil ...
Remove the tool ...

Fold the fabric in half and pull the thread gently ...

Keep the first petal to your left and repeat the process. I made five petals.

Pull the thread through the first petal one more time. Pull tight and form a knot.

I made another flower in the small size using a coordinating fabric.
